Better Deals For Gas And Electricity Customers
The Home Advisory Service are always bringing you new ideas on how to save money on your gas and electricity bills; and it seems that they have been right to do so.
It is has been shown that over 2.8 million households have switched gas and electricity supplier in the first seven months of 2007; and in doing so have saved large amounts of money. Ofgem have confirmed this ranges from an average of £60 per year for people paying by direct debit; a better £86 per year for standard payments; and a whopping average of £100 per year for prepayment customers.
This is due to the large amount of competition that is occurring between companies vying for gas and electricity customers, and trying to offer the best deal; something that The Home Advisory Service is always able to help you with.
However, the competition is not just for the most amount of money that can be saved, but also for the service that is offered. The Home Advisory Service have also previously reported on the poor quality of service offered by gas and electricity companies; and the fact that so many customers are switching suppliers because of this shows that they need to get their acts together if they don’t want to lose business.
Alistair Buchanan, the Chief Executive of Ofgem said; “With 2.8 million households switching in the first half of the year the heat is still on suppliers to offer customers the best deal for their energy. With winter drawing in and all suppliers having lowered their prices, now is a good time for all customers to check whether they are
getting a good deal for their energy.
“This is particularly true for prepayment meter customers, who can reap savings on average of £100 if they have never switched supplier. We also want to highlight the benefits of changing how you pay for your energy and the special tariffs many suppliers offer to those struggling to pay their energy bills.”
So the advice is not only to look at who is supplying your gas and electricity, but also take a closer look at how you are paying for it, as this could make all the difference to your final bill. Hopefully a better service will also be offered to the consumer in light of the competition in the market, and finally the consumer will be getting a better deal all-round.
